Vol. 5: Industrial Steam Across Britain Vol.1

Vol. 5: Industrial Steam Across Britain Vol.1

Ref: AC1005D

Price:£18.95

Quantity:

Industrial steam in Britain survived for more than a decade into the 1970s after the end of steam on the BR network in 1968. Industrial enthusiast Geoff Monks travelled the length and breath of the country recording with cine film these last vestiges of steam.

In this first volume of our series of industrial steam across Britain we see steam working at collieries, power stations, docks and private industrial sites, most of which have now vanished just as completely as the steam engines that served them.

Well known colliery systems such as those at Waterside, Polkemmet, Bedlay, Bickershaw, Littleton and Mountain Ash are covered amongst others, together with glimpses of little visited power stations such as those at Lancaster and Neepsend as well as the better known sites such as Agecroft

Steam is seen at work at Falmouth Harbour and the Port of Par as well as such diverse sites at Whifflet Foundry and C,P.C Trafford Park.

Vol.71: Industrial Slide Show Part 3 (56-mins)

Ref: AC1071D

Price:£18.95

This is the third of our industrial slide shows, in this case featuring steam power at National Coal Board locations in England. The pictures in this all-colour album were taken mostly between the mid-1960s and mid-to-late 1970s by three industrial enthusiasts.

Beginning in the North-East, the large systems based on Ashington and Philadelpia are featured as well as visits to individual mines. Chapter 2 covers Yorkshire where many of the locos on view sport the various modifications applied by the Hunslet Engine Co. during the 1960s.

North-West England was very much "Austerity" territory and there are a number of fine action shots of these engines at locations such as the Walkden system and Bickershaw.

The final chapter covers the Midlands and includes some rare views of the East Midlands coalfields which were mostly dieselised at a relatively early date.

With an iinformative commentary and playable on a normal DVD player. PLEASE NOTE that the images in this volume are of SLIDES and NOT moving video.
