Class 20s in France: A detailed look at operations of the former British Railway’s owned Class 20s. Now owned by CFD, these locos can be found operating around Autun to the South of Paris.

Portuguese Power: More English Electric action in the form of the Portuguese version of British Class 20s and Class 50s. We see these locos at work around Oporto & running along the Algarve from Lagos to Vila Real.

East German Narrow Guage: Working steam is still a regular occurance in Germany on the former East German narrow guage line. We visit some of these remarkable survivors at Wernigerode, Redeberg and Zittau.

CFL in 1996: Our first port of call is Luxenbourg, looking at operations that can be seen today. Both passenger and freight services feature in the programme. Including Class 1800 diesels & class 3600 ‘monocabine’ electrics.

Euro Hotspots: Grafen-Neudorf The first ‘Hotspot’ footage looks at the services passing through the South West German town of Grafen-Neudorf, witnessing varied traffic from local suburban services to the high speed ICE trains.

Dijon Yard: We take a detailed look at operations within the massive Dijon Yard located in Eastern France. Diesels & Electrics both feature on all manner of interesting freight traffic.

Saalfeld Area Profile: Our visit to the Saalfeld area (in 1996) coincides with the recent Plandampf (timetabled regular steam workings) featuring Steam class 01, 18, 44 & 50. Electric classes featured are 103s, 112s, 150 & 155 & Diesel classes 219 & 232.

Euro Hotspots: Basel Northern Switzerland is the location for the second ‘Hotspot’ with footage of a variety of workings featuring SBB classes, Re420, Re430, Re460, Re620 and BLS class Re425.

Swiss Journey: Film from the busy rail centres of Zurich, Interlaken, Thun and Spiez as part of a scenic journey into the Swiss mountains. Classes 450, 460, Re 4/4, Italian ‘Pendolinos’ and more are featured, plus the unusual 19 kilometre ‘rack’ railway through Wengen.

French Hotspot: The bustling railway network of Northern France is featured as we pay a visit to the busy main line only two hours by road from the port of Calais. The Classes BB12000, 16000, 16500, 22000 and 26000, as well as the brand new BB36000 are seen on a variety of passenger and freight traffic.

Bertrix - A Belgian Rail Centre: Soon to be eletricfied (in 1998) this busy railway location plays host to a variety of interesting diesel locomotives and multiple units. Classes 52, 53, 54, ands 55 are shown on a variety of workings.

Deutschland Diesels: Class 202 and 232 are seen in action on passenger and freight traffic at Grimenthal in the former East Germany.

Lines in Luxembourg: The Main line between the North of Luxembourg and Liege is in the process of electrification (in 1998). Many of the then present diesel hauled services are featured including SNCB class 55, CFL Class 1800 and CFL electric class 3600C.

Aachen: This busy German Rail Centre lies on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Rich in variety and quantity of motive power both passenger and freight traffic are shown including SNCB Classes 27 & 55, DB Classes 101, 103, 110, 111, 151, 215 and 294.

Border Crossing:

A look at one of the busiest crossing points in France at Modane in the Alps along the border with Italy. A wide variety of traffic is seen including SNCF BB67300, CC6500, TGV and Italian class 656 & 633 electrics.

German Hotspot - Gorlitz:

The former East German town of Gorlitz is situated east of the Polish border. A diverse array of motive power and services are seen including classes 202, 219, 232 and 346, as well as the appearance of Polish diesel P+P SV45-154.

Luxembourg Hotspot:

Showing activity around the town of Bettenbourg on the busy main line linking northern France with Luxembourg. SNCF BB15000 and classes 1800 & 3600 are featured as well as a Regrosprenter diesel unit.

Czech Diesels:

A look at diesel traffic in northern Czechoslovakia at the main line linking Chumutor and Karloug Varg. Both passenger & freight trains feature on the busy main line railway including classes 842, 749, 750, 753 and 754.

Rotterdam Docks Line:

Class 6400 locomotives feature in this look at container traffic around Rotterdam Docks, including an Ex-DB DE13.

French Hotspot - Givors:

Freight and passenger trains feature in this sample of action from this busy location just outside Lya. A freight train headed by no less than five locos, is just one in a procession of trains powered by BB63000, BB67200, BB67500 BB9600, BB8100, BB22200.

Austrian Rail Centre - Selzthal:

Situated in the heart of Austria and surounded by mountains, Selzthal is an important junction. A wide variety of locomotives are shown including some of the endangered class 040 electrics in one of their last European strongholds.

Dutch Mainline Profile:

A profile of main line activity to the south of Dordrecht. Express passenger and freight services are profiled on one of the busiest stretches of main line in Holland.

Discovering Denmark Pt 2

Profiling mainline activity to the north and west of Copenhagen incl. Austrian Hotsport - Worgl

Filmed during May 2000 and situated in the west of the country amidst spectacular mountain scenery, Worgl lies on the important rail artery linking Germany with Italy via Innsbruck. Express & local passenger traffic plus freight are featured.

Harbouring Hamburg

There are over ten times as many private sidings here for wagonload & container traffic as in the whole of the UK. With 420km of running lines in the port, it is gigantic. We feature the port yards with diesel & electric power, plus the substantial Hamburg Maschen marshalling yard, capable of handling 11,000 wagons per day.

Switzerland - Observations at Olten

South of Basel, this major station lies on a number of routes linking Zurich with cities to the south & west of the country. Footage features Class 450-hauled expresses, electric multiple units and semi-fast passenger services.

Class 37s in France Pt 1

July 1999 the first British Class 37s arrive in France working on construction trains for a new TGV line in the south of France. The first of a two-part series sees works trains featuring SNCF diesels, ex–Dutch class BB62400s and English Electric Class 37s

Belgian Profile - Charleroi

Featuring the railway operations at the city’s main station. A variety of locomotive and EMU classes are seen operating on a variety of both passenger & freight workings.

Checking out the Czechs Looking at operations in Vsetaty just east of Prague which sees around 25 passenger & freight trains every hour. Class 122, 163 & 753 are just two of the types seen.
