A day with each of thse two unique locomotives. K1 is the first Garratt locomotive built from 1909 and is the only compund working in Britain today. Taliesin is the only single Fairlie. Both are articulated but that is where the similarities end.

This film takes a behind the scenes view of the FFestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.

Taliesin is given the taks of moving the Victorian train set from MInffordd yard to Harbour Station, then doubles back to bring tipper wagons and open trucks down the line. K1 is to operate the daily service train from Caernafon to Rhyd Ddu.

We see both locomotives being prepared from lighting up to light engine movements travelling with the cre on the footplate. Line side footage is included.

This archive film from the period 1994-1997 was taken by Frank Tyler and his son Michael. They travelled widely in India recording the last days of steam on the mainline in many States. Frank was instrumental in saving YP Pacific No. 2151 for preservation when it was finally withdrawn. It now resides at Rewari. Frank still travels to India to visit the national collection and his many friends on Indian Railways.

Thid film covers both metre gauge and broad gauge across large parts of India.
